The Story Behind Remarkable Cues

Remarkable Cues was founded by Jay Sun after he identified a gap in the New Zealand pool equipment market. No carbon fibre cue available locally came with the small 9.5 mm ferrule and tip size that the two most widely played pool codes in New Zealand require. So Jay set out to build one.

Why the Gap Existed

Clubs New Zealand and NZIEF both play to international rules, the same standard followed in Ultimate Pool. That calls for a 9.5 mm tip.

Carbon fibre cues on the New Zealand market were built for different specifications, leaving local players without a high performance option that actually suited the game they were playing.

From Concept to Prototype

Jay travelled to China to work with Kelik, a specialist manufacturer, to design a prototype shaft from the ground up. The result is a 10.5 mm carbon fibre shaft with a 9.5 mm tip, made from T1100G carbon fibre cloth, with a choice of Pro Taper or Conical Taper.

The custom made ferrule and inlay ring, available in your choice of colour and size, mean no two cues need to look the same. The shaft range includes multiple joint options so the cue can be paired with any 9 ball butt. Butts are also available in a range of designs.

Why did Jay Sun start Remarkable Cues?

Jay identified that carbon fibre cues available in New Zealand did not come with a 9.5 mm ferrule to suit Clubs New Zealand and NZIEF rules. He travelled to China to work with manufacturer Kelik and design a shaft built specifically for the New Zealand market.

Where are Remarkable Cues shafts made?

The shafts were designed by Jay Sun in collaboration with Kelik, a specialist manufacturer based in China.

What codes are Remarkable Cues shafts designed for?
